Kushner meets with Jordan king to discuss Mideast peace

AMMAN (AA): Jordanian King Abdullah II on Wednesday met with Jared Kushner, a top advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump (and Trump’s son-in-law), to whom he stressed the need for a Palestine-Israel settlement “based on the principle of a two-state solution”.

According to Jordan’s state-run Petra news agency, King Abdullah, during the meeting, called for “stepping up efforts to achieve a comprehensive peace on the basis of a two-state solution to the Mideast dispute”.

Such a settlement, he added, must include “the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital”.

Kushner’s visit to the Hashemite Kingdom is the second leg of a Middle East tour that has already brought him to Morocco and will also take him to Israel.

Next month, Kushner and other Trump administration officials are expected to unveil details of the so-called “Deal of the Century”, a backchannel Palestine-Israel peace plan details of which have yet to be made public.
