Laborers disapprove restriction at Torkham border

F.P. Report

LANDI KOTAL: Laborers and daily wagers condemned what they said was unnecessary restraint imposed for their entry and exit at Torkham border   in a protest demo held at Bacha Khan Chowk, Landi Kotal bazaar on Wednesday.

Scores of local laborers carrying black flags and banner inscribed with slogans like,”relaxe restriction at the border for laborers,”  gathered at the square and chanted full throat slogans in favor of their demands.

Addressing on the occasion their leaders including Salam Shinwari, Famidullah and others said that because of a lack of source of income, thousands of local tribesmen crossed the border to Afghanistan to earn for their livelihood; however the authorities of Pakistan and Afghanistan had restrained their movement that was injustice to them.

Due to constrained policy at the crossing thousands of families have been compelled to starve, they added.

The protestors demanded of the border security officials of the both countries to have mercy on them and ease restrictions and permit them to cross the border.

They threatened that if their problem was not addressed then they would set up indefinite agitation against it.
