KIEV (TASS): Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), conducted special tactical exercises in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, on the border with Russia. This was reported on Saturday by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
“Subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have joined the large-scale exercises of the Security Service of Ukraine to neutralize enemy sabotage gro-ups near the northern border with the Russian Fede-ration,” the statement on the agency’s website says . It is specified that the trainings were held on the territory of the Chernihiv and Sumy regions of Ukraine.
“According to the plan of the SBU, on the territory of the Chernihiv region there is a conditional sabotage and reconnaissance group of the enemy, which plans to carry out terrorist acts in the border areas of the region at objects of important national economic and defense significance,” the ministry noted, adding that the conditional enemy planned to break through international checkpoint “Senkovka” on the border with Russia and Belarus. The ministry assured that the security officials as a result managed to neutralize the conditional saboteurs.
More than 1.5 thousand people took part in the maneuvers, including employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the State Emergency Service, the National Police, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, representatives of executive authorities and local government. More than 100 pieces of equipment were used, added to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On Friday, the SBU announced that it was conducting exercises on the border with Russia. The message indicated that the training takes place in conditions as close as possible to real ones. In the course of them, security regimes were strengthened at military, infrastructural and other strategically important facilities in the region. The main goal of the exercises was called increasing the level of security in the border regions of Ukraine, as well as working out the algorithms for interagency cooperation to effectively counter possible terrorist and sabotage threats.
Earlier on Saturday, the Center air command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the strengthening of the air defense system in the northern direction of the country in preparation for the strategic command and staff exercises “United Efforts – 2021”, which will be held on September 22-30 together with 15 countries. including 11 NATO members.
