ISLAMABAD: Zahid Hamid, Federal Law Minister has presented his resignation to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi from his position late on Sunday.
Private news channel claimed that Zahid Hamid has tendered his resignation to PM Abbasi, which will likely to be accepted later in the day.
Zahid Hamid taken the decision after the protest was started across the country from Saturday when the crackdown was conducted by the forces against the Islamabad sit-in by religious group.
While talking to private news channel Zahid Hamid said that I am not directly responsible for the induction of controversial amendment to the finality of Prophethood declaration for electoral candidates.
He added that I decided to step down from my position with the aim to restore peace in the country.
Earlier on Sunday, Zahid Hamid called on Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore and shared views with him on the present situation of the country.
