F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked, “Let the poor benefit as the pensioners have to make much struggle for getting pension”.

He gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-emmeber bench of Supreme Court (SC) during the course of hearing of National High Ways employees pension case.

He said that how can one cope with his requirements within Rs 900 pension. Pensioners spend their prime time of life in their service. Some times the children of the pensioners are not able to run the family matters.

The court dismissed the appeal plea of Ministry of Finance and upheld the services tribunal decision for granting pension benefits to the employees of National Highway. Services tribunal had decided to allow pension benefits to the employees but finance ministry had resorted to SC against this decision.
