LG Minister visits Aziz Bhutti Park

Karachi: Provincial Minister for Information and Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Tuesday visited Aziz Bhatti Park located in Gulstan e Iqbal. Administrator KMC Laeeq Ahmed, DG Works KMC Shabi ul Hassan Zaidi, DG Parks Afaq Mirza and others were also present on the occasion.
While briefing to Provincial Local Government Minister, Administrator KMC Laeeq Ahmad said that internal encroachments have been completely removed from the park and Customs Club and marriage hall constructed on park land have also been demolished. He added that dumping of garbage in the lake of Park, which covers an area of ??5 acres, has been stopped . He further told that a social organization has committed 100000 samplings for developing Urban Forest on the retrieved land and added that 50,000 saplings have handed over to KMC.
On this occasion, the Provincial Minister for Information and Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah directed Administrator KMC to implement the orders of the Chief Justice of Pakistan pertaining to Aziz Bhatti Park in letter and spirit at the earliest. Nasir Hussain Shah said that Aziz Bhatti is an important park for the amusement of the citizens and it should be restored in its original condition.
He further said that steps should be taken to beautify the Park lake and grass should be developed and chairs should be installed on the banks of the lake. ‘ task of developing Urban forest on retrieved land should also be started in this regard , cooperation may be sought from the Sindh Forest Department.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that necessary repairs of chairs, huts and children’s swings in the park should also be ensured and legal provision should be explored for tuck shop and other facilities for the convenience of citizens . He also directed KMC to built boundary wall around the park so as to protect it from encroachment.
