LHC adjourns contempt petition against Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned a petition seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, for her disrespectful comments regarding the judges of apex court.

The court adjourned the hearing of petition against Maryam Nawaz till Tuesday because the absence of petitioners lawyer on Monday. Advocate Azhar Siddique field a petition in the LHC, and claimed that Maryam Nawaz was criticizing the judges of apex court after the disqualification of her father in the Panama Papers case.

He claimed in a petitioner that Maryam Nawaz was making derogatory remarks against the judiciary and other state institutions which is a criminal offence.
