LAHORE (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday disposed of a pre-arrest bail petition filed by Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar, son-in-law of former premier Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in assets beyond means case.
The two-member bench headed by Justice Aalia Neelum heard the petition filed by Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar.
A prosecutor on behalf of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) argued before the bench that the bureau had summoned the petitioner for confirmation of his assets whereas his arrest was not required at this stage.
At this, the bench disposed of the bail petition of Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar and directed the bureau to inform the petitioner seven days prior to arrest, if it wanted to arrest him in future.
The NAB had launched an inquiry against Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar on allegations of amassing assets beyond means. The bureau had summoned Capt (retd) Safdar for March 10 with a direction to present the record of all properties in his name and his family members.
However, Capt (retd) Safdar challenged the notice before LHC and sought pre-arrest bail in the matter. The LHC had granted interim pre-arrest bail to Capt (retd) Safdar in the matter.
