ADEN: A local commander of Al-Qaeda militants killed in Yemen in a drone attack which was conducted by US forces in central province of Baida on Thursday
The local authorities told media persons that Al-Qaeda local commander identified as Shroum al-Sanaani, was travelling on a motorbike along with other companion when the drone strike killed them both.
The drone strike was carried in the Yakala area which considers being the stronghold of Al-Qaeda group and according to the US the Yemen-based AQAP is the most dangerous branch.
Drone strike against the AQAP has been intensified since the US president Donald Trump took office in January.
AQAP has taken advantage of a war between the Saudi-backed government and rebels to expand its presence in several areas of eastern and southern Yemen.
More than 8,000 people have been killed since Saudi Arabia and its allies joined the conflict in 2015.
