Logar acting crime branch chief killed in Taliban attack
PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The acting crime branch chief for central Logar province was killed in a Taliban attack on Tuesday, an official said.
Salim Saleh, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Maj. Azimullah Haqmal was kidnapped in the morning before being killed by the militants.
“Police had arrived in the area to launch an operation for his rescue, but Haqmal was found dead,” he said, adding the incident took place in Hesarak area on the outskirts of the provincial capital.
Haqmal had served in the crime branch of the Logar police headquarters for 10 years. Bashir Dariz, a resident of the area, said the deceased was his cousin. He was killed by Taliban this morning.
“The Taliban militants kidnapped him after leaving his home this morning and the rebels then killed him,” he said. Dariz added his cousin had no personal enmity.
Around 20 days back, the provincial crime branch manager, Col. Mohammad Jan Abid, was also killed in a Taliban attack.
