KABUL: The deputy governor of Logar province was killed in attack of Taliban in Muhammad Agha district on Thursday.
Taliban fighters attacked Logar deputy governor Qamaruddin Shakeeb in Tangi Waghjan area in the limits of Muhammad Agha district at around 2:20 pm (local time), Munira Yousafzada, spokesperson for Independent Directorate of Local Governance told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
Qamaruddin Shakeeb and his security guard were killed in the attack, she said.
Spokesman for the governor’s office Salim Saleh and his driver were injured in the incident, she added.
It was learnt that the deceased was on his way to Kabul when Taliban ambushed him.
Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Taliban announced launching spring offensive “Al-Khandaq” throughout the country.
