KARAK: Loya Jirga, a right organization comprising the office bearers of all political parties, strongly condemned the cruel load shedding of 23 hours across the district and decided to besiege the offices of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) Karak.

The speakers on the occasion including district president of Jamaitul Ulema Islam (Sami) Maulana Sabz Ali, district general secretary of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Mian Ikhlaq, Sharif Khattak, village Nazim Ihsanullah and others expressed grave concerns over the unscheduled load shedding of 23 hours and asked the PESCO officials to make complete black out instead of supplying only one hour’s electricity to the consumers at midnight.

The speakers said that majority of the people were depositing monthly power bills regularly but the PESCO authorities not supplying electricity and the people were bracing the hot weather without electricity.

The elders claimed that prolong load shedding has created the drinking water problem across the district as the drinking water supply schemes were not functioning. They recalled that they had arranged several meetings with the deputy director of PESCO Karak to devise a mechanism to make sure the smooth supply of power to the consumers and they reached to a solution but the PESCO Karak did not follow it.

They claimed that the people were ready to pay the power bills but the PESCO authorities were a hurdle in it to resolve the issue once for all.

The speakers resolved that they would not tolerate the prolong load shedding any more in the district and set one-week deadline for the PESCO Karak to mend their ways. They took a unanimous decision if the PESCO did not made the load shedding according to schedule after the deadline then they would be left with no option but to launch a protest movement in the district.

They decided that during a week deadline they would launch an awareness campaign in the district about the proposed protest. They decided if the PESCO authorities failed to resolve the very basic problem of the people then they would besiege the offices of the PESCO Karak in first phase and would strengthen their protest with each passing day.
