Macron says France ‘opposed’ to EU-S.America trade deal

PARIS (AFP): France is against the massive and long-negotiated trade deal between the European Union and South American bloc Mercosur, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday during a visit to Sweden.

“France is opposed to Mercosur because the regulations are not in line with ours,” Macron, who is due to discuss the issue on Thursday with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, told reporters during a press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
