Makarand Deshpande roped in for upcoming Sadak 2

Monitoring Desk

MUMBAI: The news about Mahesh Bhatt returning to direction with a sequel to his much popular film, Sadak has got many excited. And the fact that his daughter, Alia Bhatt would be featuring in this film along with Pooja Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapoor only adds to the thrill.

While the original was a romantic thriller, the story revolving around a taxi driver and a woman forced into prostitution, the sequel is different. It will have Alia Bhatt, the leading lady exposing a fake guru running an ashram while Sanjay Dutt will be seen helping the girl in this mammoth task.

Now the obvious question is who’d be playing this important character in the sequel and to this, director Mahesh Bhatt said that Gulshan Grover will not be playing the part. He has a great actor playing that part whereas Grover will play another important role in the film.

Another report suggests that actor Makarand Deshpande will be seen carrying out the role of a godman in the film. He has already started workshops with Mahesh Bhatt for the intense and challenging role.

Like Maharani, played by Sadashiv Amrapurkar in the Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt starrer Sadak, a unique look is being designed for Makarand in the sequel.

Makarand Deshpande is a theatre personality and has acted in films like Swades, Junglee, Mere Pyare Prime Minister, Fukrey Returns and many others.

The film will go on floors on May 18 in Mumbai and will be shot in Mumbai and other parts of India. This will be Alia’s first film with her father and she will share screen space with sister Pooja Bhatt also for the first time on the big screen.
