Martyrdom of another police officer
With the merciless murder of SP Tahir Khan Dawar by hitherto unknown militant group in Afghanistan KP Police has lost another upright and dedicated officer. Earlier, he had survived two terrorizes attacks in Bannu. The Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered an immediate inquiry into the shocking murder of SP Rural Peshawar. An Afghan official on Tuesday confirmed that the tortured body of the Police Officer was found in Nangrahar province of Afghanistan.
The slain Police officer was kidnapped from a posh locality G-10/4 in Islamabad ad on 26th October and later he was smuggled into Afghanistan. The government of Pakistan remained clueless till the footage of his dead body went viral on social media. State Minister for Interior Sheriyar Afridi told Senate that the Prime Minister has asked for an inquiry report on the murder of Police official but his statement could satisfy the Senators of opposition parties.
The kidnapping of Police official from a posh locality of Islamabad and then his taking out of the federal capital and subsequent smuggling into Afghanistan has raised questions about the security situation in the country. It suggests that there is a militant ant network that is not only carrying out reconnaissance of potential targets, but has the capability to capture a veteran police officer and spirit him out of the capital and then smuggle into Afghanistan undetected.
KP Police have fought bravely on the frontline of the fight against terrorism, militancy and extremism and sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The list of martyrs is very long including senior most officers of federal police group. The kidnapping and murder of a chivalrous police officer will certainly create unrest in the rank and file of KP police force. If they are expected to continue to deliver exceptional counterterrorism results, the state must fulfill its responsibility of their protection.
