BALKH (Agencies): The mass wedding ceremony of 115 couples held in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
The wedding ceremony held with a cost of more than 4 million Afghanis in cooperation with a religious school (Darul Uloom Hasina Special Women’s School), which also contributed 35 thousand Afghanis for each couple.
These couples were from different strata of society and different provinces of the country.
They say that they celebrated their wedding as a group in order to avoid excessive expenses and unnecessary luxuries.
Razia Husseni, one of the officials who organized the wedding ceremony, said that the purpose of holding such ceremony is to prevent the spread of foreigners’ culture and the institutionalization of mass wedding ceremony in the society.
Some religious scholars welcome mass weddings and consider this act as a good and desirable thing in an Islamic society.
It should be mentioned that many wedding ceremonies were held in the form of a group in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
