May 9 a black day in country’s history: Talpur

F.P. Report

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Central Leader and President of the Women’s Wing, Faryal Talpur, has stated that May 9th is a black day in Pakistan’s history. Every Pakistani should condemn it, and those involved, as well as the instigators, should be punished.

Speaking in the Sindh Assembly, Ms. Faryal Talpur said, “We all agree that the events that occurred on May 9 should not have happened. I want to ask these people, how would you feel if a group entered your house and set it on fire in the presence of your family? Does our culture, our religion allow such actions?”

She said, “We talk about our pains because we have experienced them. When my brother, Asif Ali Zardari, was picked up, and I submitted a petition for habeas corpus in court, I remember the days when we went from court to court. I still remember the day when Bibi was martyred, and I was the District Nazim of Shaheed Benazirabad. We went to Garhi Khuda Baksh, and there was fire everywhere and tears in our eyes.”

Ms. Faryal Talpur said, “I ask, how would you feel if your sister was taken away on the holy night of Eid? My only crime is that I am Asif Ali Zardari’s sister and a humble worker of the Pakistan People’s Party.”

She said, “When your sister is dragged through the streets of Adiala, and people watch as a woman is taken in an armored vehicle, how would you feel? That act was done only with the intention of humiliating someone, to show that we have your sister and daughter in an armored vehicle.”

Faryal Talpur said, “PTI is not a political party but a cult. People’s minds have been poisoned, and the minds of our new generation have been corrupted. The person who did all this should be released from jail. There has been a lot of injustice done to me.”

She said, “Our leaders and all of us went to jail, and we never complained. We only supported the lawyers and remained steadfast. We instructed the workers not to create a disturbance as it might anger the judge. It is our culture to show patience. We didn’t resort to arson, we didn’t gather crowds, we didn’t provoke people, and we didn’t poison their minds.”

Faryal Talpur said, “What will these people respond to this soldier or the soldier in front of whom Jinnah House, GHQ, and the whole country are being burnt?” She said that PTI people will have to admit their mistake, they will also have to admit that they have destroyed the economy of this country. We are born in this country and we have to die in this country, this country is what we are, otherwise our identity is nothing.

She said, “PTI will have to admit its mistake. They will also have to acknowledge that they have destroyed the economy of this country. We were born in this country, and we will die in this country. This country is who we are; otherwise, our identity is nothing.”
