Medical experts urge for planning against Hepatitis

BAHAWALPUR: Prominent medical experts have urged to speed up modern and effective curative methods by adopting strategic medical planning to eliminate the menace of Hepatitis from Pakistan by 2030.

This was the conclusion of the second Pakistan study of liver disease conference held at the auditorium of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur here.

The conference was attended by Gastroenterologists from all over the country including Dr. Waseem Jafri, Dr. Shahid Hameed, Dr. Zaigham Abbas, Dr. Altaf Baqir, Dr. Ghayas-un-Nabi Tayyab, Dr. Mona Kamran, Dr. Muhammad Saleh, Professor Dr. Javed Iqbal, Professor Dr. Qazi Masroor Ali, and Professor Dr. Munir Azhar.

The medical experts believed that the time is ripe to establish vibrant, effective and result oriented operational linkages between the social sector community and various departments of the government.

“Proper awareness of various medical programs is vital to accelerate the pace of elimination of Hepatitis ‘B’ and ‘C’ by adopting early screening, proper vaccination of Hepatitis ‘B’ and early recognition and treatment of Hepatitis ‘C'”, the medical experts said.

Head of Medical Department of Bahawal Victoria Hospital Professor Dr. Qazi Masroor Ali paid rich tribute to the Gastroenterologists who provided their state of the art input for adopting result oriented curative methods to wipe out the menace of Hepatitis ‘B’ and ‘C’ from the motherland.
