KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum convened a high-level meeting to discuss the establishment of a processing center for precious and semi-precious stones in Kabul.
The Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mullah Hidayatullah Badri, Acting Minister of Economy Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, Kabul Mayor Mawlawi Abdul Rashid, Deputy Minister of Planning and Policy from the Ministry of Finance Engineer Sultan Mohammad Zubair, Head of Finance in the Economic Affairs Directorate Hafiz Mohammad, and other senior officials were in attendance.
The attendees engaged in comprehensive discussions on various aspects of establishing the processing center, including the export of processed stones to international markets, the issuance of mining permits, the creation of dedicated sales centers for precious stones, and the logistics of transporting stones to marketing centers.
Additionally, the meeting covered the assessment and revenue potential of Afghanistan’s gemstone resources.
Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mullah Hidayatullah Badri emphasized Afghanistan’s rich reserves of precious and semi-precious stones and pledged full legal support and cooperation in advancing this sector.
