Mehbooba’s detention extended
ISLAMABAD: In occupied Kashmir, the detention of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, under draconian law Public Safety Act (PSA), was on Friday extended by three more months.
In a brief order, the district magistrate of Srinagar handed over the continuation of her custody at her residence, hours before her present term under the PSA was to expire.
Mehbooba was initially detained on August 5 last year when the Modi-led Indian government abrogated the special status of occupied Kashmir and placed it under military siege.
Later on February 5, this year, she was slapped with the PSA.
Having spent over eight months in detention at two government facilities designated as sub-jails, she was shifted to her home on April 7 in a partial relief.
