Militancy-hit schools rehabilitated: DDAC Chairman

TIMERGARA: Chairman District Development Advisory Committee and MPA Saeed Gul on Sunday said that over 100 educational institutions in Lower Dir were damaged by militants in 2009-10 that badly affected education in Maidan.

Addressing a parents’ day function at government higher secondary school Bagh Maidan as chief guest he said that all the damaged schools in the area had been made functional during the present government in the province.

He said the incumbent government had prioritized education at the top as it was spending billions on education.

The function was also addressed by school’s principal Muhammad Wahab, DEO Hafiz Ibrahim, Maidan tehsil nazim Bakhtiar Khan and others. Parents, students, teachers and area elders were present on the occasion.

Saeed Gul said that nations could only progress and develop through education.

He said that provision of basic and missing facilities to schools, reward and punishment policy and the formation of independent monitoring unit for schools had brought positive changes in education sector.

The MPA announced construction of 4 additional rooms, provision of clean drinking water, black topping of the school road and play ground for the school.

The DEO Hafiz Ibrahim announced Rs 30,000 for players of the school gymnastic team for their best performance.

The DEO and school Principal Muhammad Wahab stressed upon parents to keep close contact with school for better future of their children. They said the combination of teachers, parents, students and syllabus if coordinated could bear good fruits in students learning process.
