Militants’ attack in Ghazni leaves nine policemen dead

KABUL: At least nine members of Ghazni police lost their lives in a sudden attack by the Taliban militants in the central Ghazni province, the provincial police confirmed.

The attack happened at around 1am early on Friday on a police outpost in the Police District 3 (PD3) of Ghazni city, the provincial police said in a statement.

Mujib Mahmoudi, the head of the PD3 Police Headquarters, was also killed in the attack, the statement added.

According to the statement, the Taliban also suffered losses in the attack but an exact figure has not been released so far.

One member of Ghazni Provincial Council said on condition of anonymity that the attack has left 15 police force members dead.

Taliban has not commented on the attack.

This comes as violence and conflicts have intensified in different parts of the country amid increasing efforts to forge a peace deal with the resurgent group. (TOLOnews)
