KARACHI: Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Humayun Aziz on Tuesday conferred military awards and medals to Army personnel during a ceremony at Malir Garrison.
In recognition of their acts of gallantry and velour during different operations and outstanding performance, Lieutenant General Humayun Aziz awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (military) and Tamgha-e-Basalat to different officers and soldiers.
Awards conferred on martyrs were received by their family members at the ceremony. A large number of senior military officers and relatives of the awardees attended the ceremony.
Earlier, President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, on March 22, had conferred the country’s highest civilian award ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’ on Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad during a ceremony at the President House.
The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, federal ministers, parliamentarians and other dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, Mahathir Mohamad had said he was grateful to the government of Pakistan for inviting him and conferring him with the top civilian award of the country.
He had remarked that the people of Pakistan and Malaysia were well aware of the cultures of the two countries.
