Miller, Afghan officials discuss uptick in violence

KABUL (Pajhwok): US and NATO forces commander in Afghanistan General Scott Miller discussed the country’s security situation with top Afghan security officials.

General Miller wrote on his twitter page that he met with Minister of Interior Affairs MasoodAndarabi, Shah MahmoodMiaKhil Deputy Ministry of Defense, Afghan Army chief General Yasin Zia and Director of National Directorate of Security (NDS) General Zia Saraj.

They discussed security situation and evaluated increasing violence of Taliban, the US general said, adding that both sides emphasized on cooperation among the security forces in order to pave ground for peace.

The meeting comes amid growing targeted killings, IED explosions and the deteriorating security situation in the country.
