Minaret at Taj Mahal collapses during heavy rain in Agra

AGRA: A minaret at the entry gate of India’s Taj Mahal collapsed as heavy wind and rain hit the Agra on Wednesday night.

According to the Indian media reports, the 12-feet stone pillar at Taj Mahal’s entry gate known as Darwaza-e-Rauza collapsed because of 100 kilometres per hour, wind speed.

The reports added that Darwaza-e-Rauza is the royal gate that gives visitors the first view of the 17th century Mughal monument.

Several electricity poles and trees were also uprooted in the storm which killed four in Mathura and one in Bijnor.
