Minister calls on international investor in invest in Afghanistan

KABUL (Khaama Press): Acting Rural Rehabilitation and Development Minister, Mohammad Younus Akhundzada in a meeting with the Afghan Aid organization called on foreign investors to invest in different sectors in Afghanistan.
The Acting Rural Rehabilitation and Development Minister met with the head of the Afghan Aid organization, Charles Davy, the ministry said in a statement.
“Humanitarian aid is vital for the people of Afghanistan during these difficult times, however, work must be done in the basic sectors,” Akhundzada said.
For his part, Charles Davy, head of the Afghan Aid humanitarian aid organization, expressed his optimism about the provision of national aid in Afghanistan – adding that national and international aid groups should stand with the people of Afghanistan and continue delivering vital aid.
Minister Akhundzada praised the Afghan Aid Organization for its continued services in Afghanistan and said that humanitarian aid is not helping Afghans. He called on national and international investors to invest in the infrastructure sectors of the country.
Since the overthrow of the previous regime in August 2021, foreign investment has shrunk to an absolute zero according to sources. Several development projects managed by international organizations and donors remained incomplete.
On the contrary, China and Iran are the only regional countries that have shown interest in investing in mining and construction projects in Afghanistan.
Afghan Aid, a UK-based organization has been serving in Afghanistan for 40 years in different sectors by conducting long-term and short-term projects, combating accidents, livelihood programs, and agriculture and development projects.
