Minister in Canada to boost Pak-Canadian trade

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Trade and Commerce and Trade Pervaiz Malik who had left Canada on Sunday will hold formal bilateral meetings with the officials of Canadian government to further promote trade and economic activities between the two countries.

According to official sources, Minister for Trade and Commerce Pervaiz Malik, who is representing Pakistan in the dialogue, will hold meetings with his Canadian counterpart Francois-Philippe Champagne, Canadian Minister for Agriculture, Lawrence MacAulay and Minister for Immigration, Ahmed Hussen to discuss promotion of bilateral trade between the two countries.

The Commerce Minister is also expected to meet the Canadian investors and businessmen at Montreal and Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Industries at Toronto. Both sides recognize that there is huge potential for enhancing the existing bilateral trade between the two countries. Pakistan’s export to Canada during 2016 remained 363 million Canadian dollars while it was increased to 409 million Canadian dollars in 2017 and still there is room for further increase in this export to Canada. The import from Canada during 2016 remained 1,078 million Canadian dollars while it was decreased to 764 million Canadian dollars during 2017.
