PESHAWAR: Caretaker Minister for Health and Population, Akbar Jan Marwat has directed health authorities to follow World Health Organization (WHO) protocols for safe blood transfusion.
He said during his visit to Regional Blood Center (RBC) Peshawar here on Tuesday. Regional Manager RBC Dr. Saba briefed the minister regarding working of the centre.
She informed that centre established in 2016 and facilitating major hospitals of Peshawar including Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Kidney Centre, City Hospital and Maternity Home Centre.
Over 24 thousands blood bags have been provided to needy patients from January 2017 to May 2018, she said adding that work on RBCs in D.I.Khan, Swat and Abbottabad was underway.
Visiting minister lauded the role of blood center and stressed for measures to ensure safe blood transfusion throughout province especially in remote areas. He also assured full support and cooperation to the blood center in continuing its activities to provide better health facilities to the masses.
