Minister orders to bring
construction work on BRT Red Line in full swing within 48 hours

Karachi: Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed contractors to bring the speed of work on the BRT Red Line project in full swing within next 48 hours. The provincial minister said that after two days he would personally visit the site to inspect the progress. This he said while presiding over a meeting on BRT Red Line project on Tuesday at his office.

The minister said that the Sindh government is fully aware of the situation, the cost of the project is escalating due to high inflation. the Sindh He held assurance to the contractors that Sindh government and Trans Karachi project will fully support them and resolve their issues. During the meeting, the provincial minister also contacted Asian Development Bank’s Transport Specialists Lloyd Wright via video link, discussed the project and agreed to make SOPs to prevent any future delay in the project.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that BRT Red Line is an important project, which is the first biogas project of Pakistan. He instructed the CEO Trans Karachi to hold daily meetings to review the work on the project and submit weekly report to him on the progress of the project. Mr. Memon said that every single day is important, citizens are facing severe problems in the Sabzi Mandi , Baitul Mukarram, civic center and other places due road congestion.The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport /CEO Trans Karachi Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Managing Director Sindh Mass Transit Authority Zubair Chana, General Manager Infrastructure Trans Karachi Pir Sajjad Sarhandi, Project Contractors and Consultants .
