Ministry of Mines signs MoU with Afghan Gas for pipeline project

KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Emirati (governmental) company Afghan Gas.

According to the Ministry’s press office on Thursday, this agreement is aimed at implementing a 94.5 kilometer pipeline for transporting gas from Sheberghan to Mazar-e-Sharif.

The memorandum was signed by Sheikh-ul-Hadith Zia-ur-Rahman Al-Aryubi, Deputy Minister for Planning and Policy, and Mawlawi Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor, General Director of Afghan Gas.

To meet the gas requirements of consumers in Balkh province, the Ministry, in collaboration with Afghan Gas, has initiated the construction of the pipeline.

About 65 kilometers of the pipeline have been completed, with the remaining 31 kilometers scheduled for installation.
