MMA to make Pakistan a welfare state, says Siraj

TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief senator Sirajul Haq on Thursday said that Pakistan would be made really a welfare state if the alliance of religious parties was given the chance to rule it. He was addressing a big function at Madrassa Taleem ul Quran Khall as chief guest where the JI chief and other prominent religious scholars distributed certificates and turbaned 109 students on completion of their education.

Hundreds of party workers, area elders, seminaries’ students and Ulema attended the function. Prominent clerics Maulana Abdul Jabbar, Maulana Khaista Rahman, Maulana Abdul Shakoor, Maulana Asadullah and others also spoke on the occasion. Haq said the religious political parties would contest the next general election under the banner of Mutahida Majlas e Amal (MMA). He said the MMA would make Pakistan a welfare Islamic state if it came in power. He said the MMA had planned a workers’ convention at Islamabad in the first week of April. He said Ulema could lead the nation toward prosperity by ending the unjust distribution of resources and corruption.

“I have proposed the name of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, a prominent scientist for the caretaker prime minister slot,” Siraj ul Haq said, adding that Dr Khan was the most suitable person due to his apolitical and impartial personality. The JI chief while speaking at equipment distribution ceremony organized by the Lower Dir health department at district council hall Balambat said the courts should focus on accountability of leadership as he said real development in the country was not possible unless corruption was eliminated from top to bottom.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finance minister Muzaffar Syed, deputy commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram, district nazim Muhammad Rasool Khan, district health officer Dr Shaukat Ali, officials of health department and a large number of locals were present on the occasion. The JI chief Siraj ul Haq and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finance minister Muzaffar Syed handed over medical equipments worth of Rs. 70 million to a total of 27 health centers all over the district. Speaking on the occasion the finance minister said the provincial government was especially focusing on health and education sectors and a visible change had been brought about in both these sectors.
