Mohaqeq threatens ARG with mass protests

BALKH (ATN News): Mohammad Mohaqeq, the second deputy to the executive directorate, threatened the presidential palace (ARG) with mass demonstrations and described sexual bribery in ARG as normalization of prostitution in the government.

“Had comprehensive discussions with US Special Representative on Afghan peace process Zalmay Khalilzad and Ata M. Noor, the chief executive of Jamiat-e Islami party,” said Mohammad Mohaqeq, second deputy to the executive directorate, during a press conference held in Balkh province Wednesday after meeting Zalmay Khalilzad.

Mr Mohaqeq said that he talked about facilitating the Afghan peace process with Mr Khalilzad, stressing that the peace process should not prolong further.

“Taliban should accept intra-Afghan negotiations, while there have been intra-Afghan dialogues which have not been turned into negotiations,” he said.

The second deputy to the executive directorate also stressed that he talked about the date of intra-Afghan negotiations, saying that the date of the talks must be determined.

Referring to his talks about the presidential elections with ambassador Khalilzad, Mr Mohaqeq described the continuation of the national unity government’s work as illegal.

“Lately, a hundred ambassador and 30 commanders have been replaced in one day. These replacements pave the way for widespread frauds in the upcoming elections,” he added, describing recent replacements as electoral bribery.

Speaking about sexual bribery in ARG, he said: “this is an embarrassing issue, if such things happen in other states, the president and ministers of those states would resign, but in Afghanistan, it seems that nothing happened.”

However, the political factions and the presidential candidates will reportedly stage streets protests.
