MoI reports 2,000 security operations in past year

KABUL (TOLOnews): Abdul Mateen Qani, the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, said in an annual report of the ministry that in the past year, special police units, public security departments, counter-terrorism, and other teams conducted 224 joint operations, 1,345 independent operations, and 443 operations by special police units in different parts of the country.
According to Qani, in these operations around 1,784 suspects were arrested, and 11,640 light and heavy weapons, as well as 1,017 landmines and hand grenades, were seized.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Interior added that in the last 21 months, 20,322 criminal cases were registered in the country, while in the same period in the previous government, 29,669 different criminal cases were registered.
Qani added that in one year about 160 cases of kidnapping were reported to the police and the police forces conducted 200 operations against kidnappers, and arrested 190 suspects.
He added 13 kidnappers were killed in a clash with the security forces and 44 kidnapped people were released.
