Monsoon: Heavy rain lashes twin cities
ISLAMABAD: Heavy rain lashed the adjacent areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Monday night.
The continuous downpour in different areas flooded roads and streets in the twin cities and commuters faced immense difficulties while trying to carry on with their routines.
Several areas in Rawalpindi such as Sadiqabad, Shamsabad, Committee Chowk and Javed Colony submerged in water. The rainwater also entered in the houses causing trouble for the residents.
According to Flood Control Unit, 202 milimetre of rain was recorded so far in the twin cities. Sources informed that water level in Nullah Lai has rose to 14 feet as a result Civil Defence, Rescue 1122, Wasa and other departments have been directed to remain alert.
According to Met Office, rain-thundershower (with isolated heavy falls) accompanied by gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Hazara, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir.
Monsoon currents are continuously penetrating upper parts of the country and likely to strengthen further.
