Monsoon rains kill six in Balochistan

F.P. Report

QUETTA: Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued an alert to all concerned departments to take measures as heavy rains in Balochistan brought flash flooding and killed at least six people, on Tuesday.

The PDMA directed all departments to spread awareness among the public about urban flooding and how to prevent it.

The country’s apex disaster control authority also directed authorities to ensure water disposal in Khuzdar, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Gwadar in case of flash flooding as expected.

PDMA said that the monsoon rain spell in Quetta killed six people and at least seven persons went missing.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo on Monday said that torrential rains in Quetta and other parts of the province need the immediate attention of the authorities concerned. “PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority), Quetta Metropolitan Corporation, and district administration should be fully prepared to deal with any kind of emergency,” the CM said in his directives issued in Quetta.
