MP suggests reopening Britain embassy in Kabul

KABUL (TOLOnews): In the UK, Tobias Ellwood, MP chair of the Defense Select Committee, said that the UK must review its diplomatic approach to Kabul, and Ellwood suggested that the UK should open its embassy in Kabul and start negotiations with Afghanistan.
Tobias Ellwood, in an article for the Telegraph, said that the UN Afghan Mission should now recalibrate, and if the West “continues to sulk we could be making another blunder which pushes the nation to a fiscal cliff, potentially igniting another cycle of instability, terrorism and mass migration.”
“I am no Taliban-appeaser. Far from it. My brother was killed by Islamist extremists in 2002. I recognise their policies will never align with our ideals. But I witnessed unreported compromises the war-exhausted nation is currently willing to accept,” Ellwood said.
Ahmad Khan Andar, a political analyst, said that the reopening of the UK embassy in Kabul could be a green light for regional and world countries.
“The reopening of the UK embassy could be a green a light for regional and world countries and I hope the Islamic Emirate takes good advantage of the new remarks of the UK member of the parliament in diplomatic and political relations of the region and world,” said Ahmad Khan Andar, a political analyst.
“My opinion is that the countries which are worried about Afghanistan can only counter problems in one way, and that is to engage closely with the ruling government in Afghanistan,” said Janat Fahim Chakari, a political analyst.
After the Islamic Emirate came to power, many countries including the UK closed their embassies in Kabul.
However, the European Union has a small presence in Afghanistan and a number of regional countries have kept their embassies opened.
