MQM-P suspends membership of Senator Mian Ateeq

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has suspended the basic membership of its Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Sheikh for voting in favor of ruling party and against the MQM-P policy on Election Reform Bill in Senate.

As per details, during the voting on Election Reform Bill in Senate, Senator Ateeq gave his vote in support of the amendment in Political Parties Order 2002 and after the successful passage of the bill. The legal door for Nawaz Sharif is open now for leading the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

MQM-P Chief Farooq Sattar seeking clarification from the party lawmaker over supporting the PML-N against the party policy in this regard.

Farooq Sattar told media that MQM-P was supporting the PPP move on the issue but Senator Ateeq voted in favor of PML-N which would not be tolerated in the MQM-P and the lawmaker will clarify his stance over the issue.

However, Senator Ateeq told media that he was not clear regarding the policies of PPP and Sattar also did not inform him regarding the suspension of his membership.

Similarly, PTI also issued show cause notices to two of its members on the same issue.
