QUETTA (NNI): Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chief Mustafa Kamal said on Monday that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) belonged to its founder and will continue to be his party.
Addressing a PSP workers’ convention in Quetta, Kamal said MQM-Pakistan uses the name of the Muhajir community for its “foul politics,” adding that he stands firm on what he said during the joint press conference with Farooq Sattar.
He lamented that his community’s image and behaviour was manipulated over the past 35 years by “so called leaders of Muhajirs”.
The PSP chief said he is proud of being a Muhajir and of his bonds with the Pashtun, Punjabi, Baloch and Sindhi communities.
“The so-called leaders of Muhajirs are actually selling their community,” he added.
On November 8, the MQM-P and PSP formally announced regrouping with “one name, one symbol and one manifesto”, a year after the two political factions announced complete disassociation from their former leadership based in London.
“We will contest the upcoming elections under one name and symbol,” MQM-P head Farooq Sattar said at the press conference in Karachi, sitting alongside PSP chief Mustafa Kamal.
The alliance, however, lasted only for less than a day, as Sattar on November 10 spoke against the tone Kamal used at their joint press conference.
“We were left disappointed. Kamal agreed to unite with me and in front of me he said the MQM belongs to its founder,” said the MQM-P chief said, accusing Kamal of insulting Muhajirs and their mandate.
The convention at Railway Darbar Hall was also addressed by Raza Haroon and other PSP leaders. They said they do not do the politics of seats, but speak of public issues.
The PSP leaders urged party workers to relay their message to every household in the province that they have set out for a change and putting an end to oppression.
Appealing the masses to support them, Haroon said, “We would be at fault if children were influenced by terrorists.”
“The enemy is fanning hatred among us; we have come for the change of system,” he said. “We want to eliminate all issues based on colour, race and sect.”
The PSP leader added they want to accomplish things they have undertaken, before they die.
