PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department notified the establishment of Medical Transplantation Regularity Authority (MTRA) as the authority will provide control and permit transplant of human organs in the province.
The regularity authority will work to control on illegal human organs and control any illegal activity regarding human organs transplantation as was practice in the past.
In this regard a meeting under the chairman of Secretary Health Abid Majeed here at health secretariat Peshawar on Thursday, flanked by Professor Asif Malak from MTRA and IKD, Dr. Aziz Ur Rehman Urologist, Professor Zia Ul Islam and other senior doctors were present.
The authority consist of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak, Secretary Health, transplant specialists at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) and Institute of Kidney Diseases, doctors and professor from HMC and Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbotabad and member of the private sector as well.
In the meeting it was informed that the authority will work to stop the illegal transplantation of human organs as well as all the DHO was responsible to take strict action against any illegal activity in their concern areas.
In the meeting it was also said that according to the MTRA nine human organs transplantation will be done in Medical Teaching Institution hospital for which the ward and consultant physicians will be registered with MTRA and each case of human transplantation will be approved from the authority.
It merits mention here that MTRA act had been passed by the provincial assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2014 but the government were not notified the authority with unknown reason.
