Murad orders to replace water pipelines in Karachi to ensure provision of clean water to masses

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered to replace the water pipelines in Karachi to ensure the clean drinking water supply to the masses.

This he said while presiding over a meeting at CM House to review the progress on the water, drainage and sanitation situation across the province as per the directives of the apex court.

CM claimed that there is no water shortage in the city and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and local government trying to misguide the masses and doing politics over it.

The CM said the water distribution system was 80 to 100 years old and it completed its logical age. He added that old water pipeline not only contaminating the water but they are also wasting it through seepage.

He directed the LG minister to prepare a plan to replace the old distribution network. He said that whatever the cost of the project, he would provide the funds.

The meeting was also attended by provincial ministers Manzoor Wassan and Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon, Advocate General Zamir Ghumro, Planning & Development Chairman Mohammad Waseem, CM’s Principal Secretary Sohail Rajput, World Bank representatives, secretaries of the health, industries and energy departments and chief engineers of different departments.
