Murree People welcome Shahid Khaqan Abbasi nomination as interim Premier

MURREE: Dwellers in the constituency of Federal minister for petroleum and natural resources, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Murree had started exulting after he was nominated as interim prime minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
An historian and Senior member of Murree Press Club (MPC) Doctor Abid Fazil Abbasi while speaking to The Frontier Post said it was an historical moment that the MNA of Murree people was going to become chief executive of the country. Prof. Dr Abbasi while explicating the biography of Premier told, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was born on December 27,1958 in the Dewal village of Murree.”His father the late Khaqan Abbasi was an Air Commodore in Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and later became an MNA in the non-party based election of 1985″ he stated.
He remained the federal minister for the production in the cabinet of then Prime Minister Mr. Muhammad Khan Junejo till his death in the Ojhri Camp accident in 1987. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as only brother Zahid Khaqan Abbasi was also injured in the incident and afternoon remaining bedridden died a few years ago.
Shahid Abbasi obtained his masters’ degree in electrical engineering from the California University some 30 years ago.His sister Barrister Sadia Khaqan is also senator of the PML-N. His father’s in law was retired General Riaz Abbasi, was the director general of Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) from 1977 to 1979.
“First time he was elected to the National Assembly as an independent candidate in 1988 after his father’s death.He won the seat in 1988,1990, 1993, 1997, 2008 and 2013 and lost it only 2002”.Prof. Dr. Abid Abbasi said.
