Musharraf should man up to appear before court: Zardari

F.P. Report

KAMALIA: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Friday denied all allegations levelled by former president Gen retd Pervez Musharraf.

He said that if Musharraf is brave enough he should come to Pakistan and appear before the courts. He said in the past, such allegations have been levelled against PPP frequently. “After the murder of Murtaza Bhutto, people accused me and the late Benazir Bhutto for his murder,” he claimed.

“Accusing the accuser is becoming the best defence. When Murtaza Bhutto was assassinated, they held me and Benazir Bhutto responsible. On the Benazir Bhutto had said that you get a Bhutto to get another Bhutto,” Zardari told media persons at Kamalia.

“Unfortunately, these are the tragedies of third world politics and Pakistan is full of such tragedies,” he said. “If he (Musharraf) can dance, why can’t he come back to Pakistan and face the court,” he questioned.

Zardari said that economy was Pakistan’s biggest challenge. “Time has proved once again that Sharifs don’t know how to run a government,” he said, adding that who would pay the heavy foreign debt taken to construct roads. He said that just making roads doesn’t change anything.

“PML-N can’t handle the government, I told people that I will let PML-N do their government and later I’ll ask them,” he said. He said that Ishaq Dar fled and left a wounded country behind. Responding to a question, he said that the outcome of NA-120 by-election was not a standard to judge a party’s popularity.

He also accused the PML-N government of weakening Pakistan’s case internationally. He said that the PPP had had been calling for the appointment of a permanent foreign minister for three years. “Now I am going to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where PTI has done nothing except building a fly-over,” he said.

While answering a question, he said that Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) did not support our bill, “it is possible that they must have been lured by someone else.”

PPP co-chairman said that at the Kharal House in Kamalia where he was present to condole with the family of late Khalid Kharral. On this occasion, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Faisal Saleh Hayat, Nawaz Khokhar and Rukhsana Bangash were also present on the occasion.
