KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has reported on a meeting between Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Yue Xiaoyong, Special Envoy of the People’s Republic of China for Afghanistan. The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral relations, expanding economic cooperation, and addressing regional issues.
Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry, stated that Mawlawi Muttaqi emphasized the positive trajectory of relations between Afghanistan and China, acknowledging the significant advancements in trade and mutual cooperation.
Special Envoy Mr. Yue Xiaoyong highlighted the importance of respecting Afghanistan’s values and decisions, expressing China’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with the country. He also extended an invitation for the Acting Foreign Minister to participate in the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers from Afghanistan’s neighboring countries.
In an earlier engagement, Yue Xiaoyong met with Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, where he reiterated China’s support for Afghanistan’s stance in international platforms and underscored Beijing’s intention to deepen and sustain cooperation with Kabul.
