NAB apprehends two bank officers in fake accounts case in Karachi

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) here on Sunday apprehended two bank officers in fake bank accounts case in Karachi.

The NAB Rawalpindi team took two bank officers, Sher Ali and Muhammad Farooq into custody over their alleged involvement in fake accounts case.

NAB officials said that the bank officers were arrested on the charges of providing tampered record to the anti-graft watchdog and their alleged corruption and involvement in approval of loan for Park Lane Estates Pvt Ltd.

The bank officers would be shifted to Islamabad today and will be produced in an accountability on Monday.

Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) here on April 24 had apprehended an accountant of Park Lane Estate Company Private Limited in fake accounts case.

The anti-graft watchdog had conducted raid at the office of Park Lane Company, reportedly owned by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and had booked an accountant Muhammad Hanif.

NAB sources had said that Muhammad Hanif handled all the financial matters of Park Lane Estate Company Private Limited and Parthenon (Pvt) Limited.

The sources had said, “The suspect uses benami bank accounts for the transactions of Park Lane Estate Company and Parthenon.”
