NAB closes probe against Muqam

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) conducted an inquiry against Prime Minister’s adviser Engineer Amir Muqam for four consecutive years on the allegations of accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income, recorded the statements of more than two hundred witnesses, After four years of continuous inquiry, the value of assets of Amir Muqam turned out to be much lower than his legitimate sources of income and no corruption could be proven against him, due to which NAB closed the inquiry.

The decision to close the inquiry was based on the findings of the final inquiry report and the recommendations of the authority’s executive board, which stated that there was no evidence to pursue the case further.

According to a notification, Chairman NAB approved the closure of the inquiry against Maqam, Maqam was under investigation for his alleged involvement in these cases. When asked to comment on the closure of the inquiry, Muqam expressed his views saying that I thank Allah Almighty for being the leader, he added that baseless cases were established against opponents by former govt.
