NAB decides to bring back Ishaq Dar through Interpol

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NA-B) has decided on Thursday to bring back  former finance minister Ishaq Dar to country through Interpol.

The decision was made in NAB executive board meeting which was held on Thursday..

The NAB meeting declaration said that a red warrant for the arrest of the former foreign minister will be issued soon.

An executive board meeting, chaired by Chairman NAB Javed Iqbal, decided to bring Dar back to Pakistan with the help of the Interpol.

The statement added that Dar, who is receiving medical treatment in London, was earlier declared a proclaimed offender by the accountability court which is hearing a corruption reference against him.

“Ishaq Dar is not suffering any ailment that could not be treated in Pakistan, therefore it is decided to bring him back through Interpol,” NAB declaration said.

Dar has been nominated as an accused in a corruption reference which alleges that “Dar possesses wealth and assets beyond his known sources of income”, read the declaration.

The accountability bureau will now ask the interior ministry to contact the France-based Interpol secretariat for the issuance of “red warrants” against Dar.

Meeting has also given green signal inquiry against civil aviation authority for involvement of corruption during the construction of New Islamabad airport.

Meeting has also given go ahead for the investigation against the establishment of 56 illegal public limited companies over billion of rupees scam during the procedure of their establishment. The NAB also approved an inquiry into embezzlement worth billions of rupees in the Multan Metro Project.
