NAB-KP Bureau recovers 370.1 million in 2018

PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NAB-KP) during year 2018 recovered Rs 370.1 million in direct recoveries making while disposing all the complaints leaving no backlog with the disposal rate of 100 percent.

The spokesperson of NAB-KP said during year 2018, KP Bureau recovered were 60 percent higher than previous year.

As per details, the Bureau received a total of 5735 complaints during the calendar year 2018 making it a record increase in 19 years. Due to the commitment of the teams the Bureau successfully disposed-off all the complaints leaving no backlog with the disposal rate of 100%. After the scrutiny, the Bureau carried out Complaint Verification (Preliminary inquiry) in 477 complaints. On the basis of findings in complaint Verification, 235 inquiries were authorized. Out of 235 inquiries, 117 inquiries were successfully completed in the jurisdiction of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA newly merged districts.

The Bureau authorized 46 investigations on various corruption incidents and completed 41 investigations with a completion rate of 89%. The Bureau has arrested 37 accused persons in different corruption cases.

The Bureau has successfully filed a total of 34 references in Accountability courts while in references filed in previous years, the Bureau has been able to seek conviction in 16 cases in the Accountability Courts. Following the principle of “Accountability for All”, the Bureau has filed references in mega corruption cases.

NAB KP successfully filed reference against Ex Federal Minister Arbab Alamgir & Ex MNA Asma Alamgir on allegations of holding Assets beyond Known Sources of Income worth hundreds of millions of rupees in Pakistan.

A reference has been filed against Ex-Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on allegations of Misuse of Authority. Reference has been filed against Sahibzada Khalid Ex- Chairman Pakistan Tobacco Board and others for Misuse of Authority as theaccused person had illegally appointed employees.

The Bureau has filed reference against Ex-Minister Labor Sher Azam Khan and others in 260 kanals land scam for building Labor Complex at Shahi Bala Peshawar. During the year 2018, National Accountability Bureau has focused on Cases not Faces while investigating mega corruption cases.

The Bureau initiated inquiry corruption cases such as Malam Jabba Resort, Bus Rapid Transit, KPEZDMC and Billion Tree Tsunami Project.

Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal since his assuming the charge, has time and again vowed and stressed that NAB, through effective accountability mechanism, will ensure transparency and improvement in service delivery so that relief is provided to general public.

The Bureau has carried out Awareness Campaigns across the province and newly merged tribal districts to sensitize masses against the menace of corruption.

In view of Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal’s vision to provide every possible relief the general public and make all and sundry accountable for corruption, the Bureau has carried out public hearings at the Bureau and the Director General NAB KP has taken serious interest into providing relief to the victims of cheating scams.
