NAB okays probe against ERRA officials, contractor

PESHAWAR: The Regional Board Meeting (RBM) of National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was chaired by Mr. Farmanullah Khan, Director General NAB (KP) at Peshawar.

The meeting was attended by Directors, Deputy Prosecutor General (DPGA), Case Officers, and other concerned officers. Several important decisions were taken in the Regional Board Meeting. The board authorized inquiry against employees of Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) & contractor regarding corruption & embezzlement of funds.

The subjects are alleged to have embezzled millions of funds in connection with 22 Km Road Lilonai to Bilkani District Shangla funded by Islamic Development Bank. Further the approved map in PC-I and actual map is in contradiction to each other. Another Inquiry was authorized against Israr Gul, Councilor Union Council Dheri Kati Khel District Nowshera regarding corruption & corrupt practices. He is alleged to have illegally  occupied Govt Land and constructed houses. It is further alleged that he illegally occupied land of in Christian graveyard situated Dheri Kati Khel District Nowshera.

An inquiry was initiated against Muhammad Zaid, Dy Forest Manager, Forest Development Corporation (FDC) Balakot and other regarding corruption, corrupt practices. The accused is alleged to have sold department’s land to a private person, road construction machinery in complete violation of rules. Furthermore, the accused has also illegally sold thousands feet of timber.  Another Inquiry was authorized against Officers / Officials of Revenue Deptt D.I. Khan regarding corruption & corrupt practices.

The subjects are alleged to have fraudulently and illegally mutated 3 Kanal land of Municipal Committee, D.I. Khan in favour of an individual. [DG NAB (KP) vowed that as per directions of Honourable Justice Javed Iqbal Chairman NAB, NAB KP is determined to do across the board accountability on the basis of solid evidence as per law. He further said that eradication of corruption is not only our social and moral obligation but it also ensures prosperous future of our coming generations.
