TIMERGARA: The Pakistan People Party Lower Dir chapter on Monday demanded of the National Accountability Bureau to take notice of funds’ embezzlement in the district and probe into the matter.
Speaking at a news conference and addressing a protest demonstration in front of the Timergara press club, the PPP Lower Dir president and former provincial minister Mehmood Zeb Khan, district secretary information Alam Zeb, advocate Sahibullah and councilor Muhammad Khalil alleged that about Rs 3 billion had been embezzled in development projects of works and services, irrigation, rural development departments and TMA Timergara.
The PPP leaders also accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for finance Muzafar Syed for shifting government girls’ higher secondary school Salihgram in Rabat to Shatai Darra union council. They said the previous PPP government had approved construction of government girls’ primary school Tango Bagh and Rs 1.19 million were spent on it in 2013 but the incumbent government excluded the project from its Annual Development Plan.
They said another technical college for women was shifted to district Swabi during this government. “It proves the JI leadership is not sincere with people of the Lower Dir,” Mehmood Zeb said, adding the PPP had solid proof of irregularities in development projects initiated by the government. The PPP leaders demanded of the NAB authorities to probe into the matter. They said they would bring the culprits to book when came in powers again.
