KHAIRPUR: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sukkrur on Sunday raided at Khairpur Food Office on the complaints about distribution of wheat bags on nepotism.
According to the sources, the accountability watchdog team checked the record of the department and took away Head Clerk Ghulam Akbar Lashari for the probe into the matter after sealing warehouses of the department.
The raid followed by the complaints lodged by the residents related to distribution of wheat bags on favoritism.
On April 26, wheat worth 12 million rupees was allegedly stolen from godowns in Sindh.
This was revealed during raids by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at the godowns along with a magistrate. The raids at warehouses of Kandhkot and Kashmore were carried out on order of the NAB chairman.
A large number of sacks of wheat were found mixed with sand, while many other sacks were completely filled with sand.
An inquiry has been launched against the provincial Food Department. Such a big irregularity with the holy month Ramazan just around the corner, seems to be an attempt to create crisis during Ramazan.
The NAB had warned that strict action would be taken against those also who would be found involved in selling the wheat in market.
